Amber Ale - Popping Briskly

Airlock popping at about 75 pops per minute as of about 7:00 PM. Temperature was about 72°. Later in the evening, got up to 74°, and eventually the kreuzen began to invade the airlock. Unplugged the Brew Belt to cool things off.

Amber Ale

Amber Ale

Recipe from Bob at Bob's Homebrew Supply

Began preparations about 1:00 PM
Steeped 1.5 lbs Crystal malt at about 170° for about 30 minutes
Added to 2 gallons water, nearly boiling
Stirred in 7 lbs Light Malt Extract
Brought to boil, hot break at 4:00
Added 1 oz. Centennial hops
Added .5 oz. Centennial hops at 4:45
Turned off heat, added .5 oz. Centennial hops at 5:00
Cooled in boiling vessel in cold water bath until 5:35, then transferred to primary fermentation vessel
Pitched yeast at about 6:20, ~74°
OSG: 1.040 at 70°

Minor crisis when attempting to install airlock -- rubber stopper fits carboy, but not primary fermentation vessel
Used hole saw to enlarge opening to fit stopper
Everything set for primary fermentation by ~7:30

Welcome

Welcome to Jeff's Brewlog.

It occurred to me as I was making notes during the process of brewing and emailing them to the people that are interested (both of them) that a blog would be the perfect vehicle for this information. So, here we go!
